While growing up in Ohio back in the 1970's Jack had a farm-collie. After years of owning many other breeds of dogs (Not to mention the parade of cats, turtles, fish, ants etc), he was never so impressed with any of them as he was with Samson. Then off to fight the evil Communists, back when they were evil, he went.
Jennie grew up in New Jersey back in the 1980's, along the Raritan River, and also had a few breeds of dogs over the years. All of them lovable but her favorite was a little Bijon Freese named Pierre. Then one day Jack met Jennie and they agreed to get a pet dog as soon as they owned a home in Pennsylvania. Low and behold, in the 1990's, along came Cedar. Jennie was so taken by the intelligence and grace of the collie breed, she went out and got a few more.

Cedar THIS IS CEDAR. He may not be a show dog, but he's my bestest "bud" and he has his CGA (Canine Good Citizen) certificate. He is very active and doesn't like to sit still for very long. There are times when I think a Jack Russell would seem slow and calm compared to this guy. He's extremely friendly, which sometimes scares children and grown-ups alike, especially when he barks for attention. But after seeing him roll around and wagging his tail, they get the idea that he just wants to play...and play...and play...and play...

Clarion Edelweiss en Schnee THIS IS "WEISS". (Pronounced "Vise"). He was our first show dog in the family and he is currently enjoying retirement. He doesn't have any titles yet, but he did win the Open White Class at the National in Kentucky (what an accomplishment!) He's a sweet and gentle "kid". No matter who or "what" we bring home, he instantly accepts them as part of the family. Here you see him showing-off his emerging adult coat. He's meek and very mild tempered, except when he's hanging around with Cedar, then the underlying exuberance comes out and they race around the yard, tackling each other, stealing each other's sticks and just plain having a good old time.
